What Parents in Jumeirah Should Be Looking For in a Nursery

Placing your child in the care of others while you are at work is a terrifying notion. To soothe your worries and make sure your child is in the best hands possible, you should learn everything you can about potential nurseries.

When conducting your research, it’s a good idea to keep the following factors in mind.

Check Credentials

You should look for information about the nursery pertaining to its reputation. How long has the facility been in operation? Is the staff experienced and properly trained? What kind of certifications or licenses does the company have?

It is also worth considering other people’s personal experiences with the companies you look. Are the reviews online positive and credible? Maybe you even might know someone whose child attended the day-care and you can hear about their experience first-hand.

Review Policies

Make sure that your child’s safety is the company’s number one concern. The company should only let a child go home with the approved guardian and have a secure system in place if someone else needs to pick them up.

How does the company handle sick children? Do they tell parents to keep children at home if they are experiencing symptoms? Are all children required to have vaccinations?

It can be a red flag if the centre isn’t okay with you stopping by unexpectedly every once in a while. It might seem like spying, but it is important for you to be assured that you can drop by unannounced at any time.

Also ensure that the staff encourages parent involvement. They should want parents to be involved and keep a good line of communication. They should be willing to give you a thorough, honest report of your child’s day. This is especially important if your child isn’t talking yet, as this will be the only way you will be informed on how they are doing.

Compare Parenting Styles

Everyone has a different parenting style, so you’ll want to make sure that your day-care aligns with yours. How does the centre go about disciplining children? How often is naptime? What kind of food do they serve?

What kind of activities do they have planned throughout the day? Do the children have unlimited screen time? Are there opportunities for them to learn and develop?

Here at Children’s Oasis Nursery, for instance, we make sure our children can participate in a variety of programs. We have activities that work on coordination and strength, artistic expression, and learning and memory.

Evaluate Accommodations

Will your child need certain accommodations at whatever nursery you send them to? Is the staff equipped to handle your child’s special needs? Can they be trusted to properly give them any needed medications or handle their allergies?

Visit the Building

A nursery might look great online, but you should always visit a few in person. This will give you an idea of the company’s culture and give you a chance to see the facility. Are there hazardous objects in the play area? If there’s an outside area, is it properly secured?

Is the staff friendly? Are they actively interacting with children? It is important that the workers are attentive and completely focused on their job.

Do the other children seem engaged and happy? Are there plenty of age-appropriate toys available for them to use?

If they won’t be a distraction, you should consider bringing your child with you on your visit. This can also help determine if the nursery is a good fit.

Making a Final Decision

Consider all of these factors, and you should be able to choose a nursery that will not only take care of your child but also help foster their growth and development.

We will always have extremely fond and treasured memories of our girls time at Children’s Oasis. The teachers are so creative and fun, always thinking of new ways to engage the children and the thoughtful and varied outdoor areas were always a favourite of theirs. We loved the intimate, friendly feel and all the little extras which makes it feel that you are part of a community. Thanks for everything, we really couldn’t have asked for a better start and we will miss you all.

From Paul and Katy Rogers (Dad & Mum)

What I love about Children's Oasis is how well looked after my children are and how comfortable they feel. They know the names of most of the staff and will always say 'hi' and often stop for a chat. It's a calm and nurturing environment.

From Zoi (Mum)

We love children’s Oasis Nursery. It has been a part of our lives for over 8 years with both our girls going there. The staff are all amazing and really care for the children.

Muchas gracias Children's Oasis!!!

From Adriana (Mum)

Both my boys were at Children Oasis from the time they were 2 and until they were 4 years old; first attending the Spanish Programme and then, FS1. Both classes were great! The teachers are incredibly professional and caring. The communication with the parents is excellent and reports are detailed. They make learning fun and engaging for the kids who learn through hands-on activities and play. The facilities are beautiful with lots of stimulating and educational books and toys.  I couldn't ask for more during those early years for my children!
