Nut-free carrot cake bliss balls

We know nut allergies are too common issue these days. The nut free policy at Children’s Oasis Nursery is put into place because we take responsibility for the health and wellbeing of our children.
These no bake raw carrot cake bliss balls are delicious for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack and easy to put into your child’s lunchbox.
Most of the bliss balls or energy balls we find in the supermarkets or coffee shops in Dubai are some kind of nut based which isn’t normally a problem since nuts are a great source of protein and healthy fats, but they’re not so great if you’re allergic to them.
7 ingredients and 20 minutes is all you need to whip up these healthy carrot cake bliss balls. They are nut free, gluten free (use GF oats), vegan and taste like carrot cake minus the refined sugar and guilt.
Get the children involved in making the balls, they will think it’s a play-doh or let them roll the balls in the desiccated coconut. They will love the mess.

Ingredients

2 large carrots
1 cup gluten free oats
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup dates or date paste
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
Desiccated coconut for rolling

Instructions

Place carrots in a food processor and blitz until very finely chopped
Add remaining ingredients, excluding the desiccated coconut and blitz until the mixture comes together into a large ball
Form the balls, the mixture will be quite sticky but it improves once you roll in coconut
Roll the balls in desiccated coconut
Refrigerate

Notes

The balls will be quite soft when first made as the mixture is quite warm from the blitzing. Refrigerate for a couple of hours before forming balls
Balls will keep 3 days in the fridge and for a couple of week in the freezer

We will always have extremely fond and treasured memories of our girls time at Children’s Oasis. The teachers are so creative and fun, always thinking of new ways to engage the children and the thoughtful and varied outdoor areas were always a favourite of theirs. We loved the intimate, friendly feel and all the little extras which makes it feel that you are part of a community. Thanks for everything, we really couldn’t have asked for a better start and we will miss you all.

Both my boys were at Children Oasis from the time they were 2 and until they were 4 years old; first attending the Spanish Programme and then, FS1. Both classes were great! The teachers are incredibly professional and caring. The communication with the parents is excellent and reports are detailed. They make learning fun and engaging for the kids who learn through hands-on activities and play. The facilities are beautiful with lots of stimulating and educational books and toys.
